The Rajasthan High Court is one of the country’s major High Courts, with its Principal Seat in Jodhpur. The new High Court complex – inaugurated in December 2019 – is a landmark public building designed to echo the architectural language of the old Parliament House and houses 22 courtrooms, including the Chief Justice’s court. BuildAid was engaged for non-destructive testing of fourteen of these courtrooms.
Diagnostic work in a functioning courthouse is governed by judicial schedule. Testing had to be carried out without disturbing court proceedings, often in narrow windows outside court hours, while preserving the architectural finishes of a building of national symbolic significance. Reports had to be precise, defensible, and intelligible to non-engineering decision makers in the judicial and administrative ranks.
BuildAid carried out a coordinated NDT programme across the fourteen courtrooms covering UPV, Rebound Hammer, cover-meter and visual distress mapping of slabs, beams, columns and key load-bearing walls. Findings were compiled into courtroom-wise reports with comparative tables so that the court administration could see, at a glance, the relative condition of each chamber.
